Taking a Ferry in Seattle

Washington and the Greater Seattle area is a geographically rich and diverse area, with mountains, desert, rain forests, rivers and oceans all within reach.

Thanks to the Washington State Ferry System, not only is the Olympic Peninsula just a boat ride away (instead of a traffic slowed drive south around Tacoma), but there are seven Puget Sound and Canadian islands to explore via foot, bike, motorcycle, or car.

Taking a ferry in Seattle makes for a great day trip, and I've compiled footage I took from some of the family outings we had via ferry. I've also included the list of Greater Seattle ferry routes below.

Washington and Greater Seattle Ferry Routes:

  • Edmonds / Kingston

  • Anacortes / Lopez Island

  • Anacortes / San Juan Island

  • Anacortes / Orcas Island

  • Anacortes / Victoria B.C.

  • West Seattle (Fauntleroy) / Vashon Island and Southworth

  • Mukilteo / Whidbey Island (Clinton)

  • Point Defiance / Tahlequah

  • Seattle / Bainbridge Island
